Historical Context
The poster was created to advertise the London Museum when it was located at Kensington Palace. The text on the poster highlights features of that location:

The museum housed great events from pre-history to the current day, brought to life with "illuminated dioramas".
It featured "dazzling coronation robes" and the dolls that Queen Victoria dressed and named when the palace was her childhood home.

The London Museum at Kensington Palace later merged with the Guildhall Museum to form the Museum of London in 1975, which opened in a new location in 1976. The museum closed its London Wall site in 2022 and is currently in the process of moving to a new location in Smithfield Market, where it will reopen as the "London Museum" in 2026. The London Museum Docklands site remains open in the interim
