Abbott And Costello Go To Mars
Halfsheet movie poster for the 1953 American science-fiction comedy film,
Abbott and Costello Go to Mars.
Movie Information

Release Date: April 6, 1953.
Starring: Bud Abbott (Lester) and Lou Costello (Orville), along with Mari Blanchard (Queen Allura), Robert Paige, and Horace McMahon.
Director: Charles Lamont.
Plot: Two workmen, Lester and Orville, accidentally launch an experimental rocket thinking it's bound for Mars. They actually land in New Orleans during Mardi Gras, where they mistake costumed revelers for aliens. They are then forced by two escaped bank robbers to take off again, this time landing on the planet Venus, which is inhabited entirely by women who had banished all men long ago. The Venusian women were played by contestants from the 1952 Miss Universe pageant, including Anita Ekberg.
Fact: Despite the title, no one in the film actually travels to Mars.
