Shield And Crown
Halfsheet This is the
coat of arms of the Imperial Province of Alsace-Lorraine (in German, Reichsland Elsaß-Lothringen), which existed from 1871 to 1918.
The coat of arms is composed of a shield divided into two main parts, each representing a historical region, and is surmounted by an imperial crown.

Alsace: The left side of the shield (from the viewer's perspective) represents Alsace, combining the arms of Upper and Lower Alsace.
Lorraine: The right side of the shield represents Lorraine, featuring a golden field with a red bend and three silver eagles.

This combined shield is placed on the breast of a black eagle, which is topped by a golden imperial crown. The arms of Lorraine are also found in the third quarter of the current coat of arms of the German state of Saarland
