Plot: A sheltered woman, Lina McLaidlaw (Fontaine), marries a charming ne'er-do-well, Johnnie Aysgarth (Grant), and later comes to suspect he might be trying to kill her for her inheritance.
Accolades: Joan Fontaine won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role, the only Oscar-winning acting performance ever directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The film also received a Best Picture nomination.
