Rinaldo
Fine art stone litho,
Rinaldo by the French artist Henri Fantin-Latour. The work was created in 1881. The image depicts a scene from an 1868 cantata by Johannes Brahms, which was based on the epic poem Gerusalemme liberata (Jerusalem Liberated) by Torquato Tasso.
The scene shows the fictional Christian knight Rinaldo leaving the sorceress Armida, who had held him under her spell on an enchanted island.
About the Artist

Henri Fantin-Latour (1836–1904) was a French painter and lithographer.
He is known for his still-life paintings of flowers, group portraits of Parisian artists and writers, and imaginative lithographs often inspired by the music of classical composers.
He remained stylistically conservative despite befriending and being a contemporary of Impressionist painters like Whistler and Manet.
