Synopsis
In the film, Police Lieutenant Virgil Tibbs (Sidney Poitier) has relocated to San Francisco. He is assigned to investigate the murder of a prostitute, and the primary suspect is a minister and political activist named Reverend Logan Sharpe (Martin Landau), who is also a friend of Tibbs. Tibbs finds himself torn between his duty as a police officer and his loyalty to his friend.
