Halfsheet, This is an exhibition poster for a show of works by the French artist Raoul Dufy
. The poster is titled "VILLE DE NICE," with text below indicating "RAOUL DUFY" and "GALERIE DES PONCHETTES". The original lithographic poster was created for a posthumous exhibition of his works at the Musée des Ponchettes in Nice. The original poster was printed by Mourlot, a famous lithography workshop in Paris, in either 1953 or 1954.
Raoul Dufy was a French Fauvist painter known for his colorful and decorative style. He is celebrated for his vibrant depictions of seaside towns, horse races, and regattas, and his work was heavily influenced by the bright light of the South of France, where he spent a lot of time.
