The two meet and fall in love on a ship bound for San Francisco, each unaware of the other's "doomed destiny".
The film's screenplay is based on a story by Robert Lord, who won an Academy Award for Best Story. It was later remade in 1940 as 'Til We Meet Again, starring Merle Oberon and George Brent.
