Nevermind is widely considered a landmark album of the 1990s and is credited with bringing alternative rock into the mainstream. The album's iconic cover art, featuring a naked baby swimming underwater toward a dollar bill on a fishhook, was inspired by frontman Kurt Cobain watching a documentary on water births. The band hired a photographer to shoot a series of underwater baby photos, with a dollar bill later added to a fishhook in post-production to symbolize the themes of innocence and greed. The cover has since become one of the most famous in popular music.
