FD 26 Grateful Dead
Concert poster on linen, The poster shown is the
Grateful Dead "Skeleton & Roses" concert poster. It was created by artists Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley for a show at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco on September 16-17, 1966.
The iconic artwork was adapted from an illustration by Edmund J. Sullivan for a 19th-century book of Persian poems, The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. This design became one of the most recognized images associated with the Grateful Dead and was later used for the cover of their 1971 live album, often referred to as "Skull & Roses".
Original first-print posters are highly sought after by collectors and can be very valuable, with some selling at auction for over $100,000. The value depends on factors such as condition, printing, and whether it has been signed. There are also various reprints and reproductions available for purchase at lower prices
