Gone With The Wind
One sheet, Gone with the Wind
, a 1939 American epic historical romance film, is based on Margaret Mitchell's 1936 novel. The image shows a poster for the film, featuring Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O'Hara and Clark Gable as Rhett Butler. The movie follows Scarlett O'Hara, a Georgia plantation owner's daughter, through love and loss during the American Civil War and Reconstruction. David O. Selznick produced the film, and Victor Fleming directed it.
The film received ten Academy Awards out of thirteen nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director for Fleming, and Best Actress for Leigh. Hattie McDaniel made history as the first African American to win an Academy Award for her supporting role as Mammy. It is the highest-grossing film in history when adjusted for inflation.
However, the film has faced criticism for its portrayal of the Confederacy, its historical inaccuracies, and for glorifying slavery and the "Lost Cause" myth.
