The Grateful Dead
One sheet, concert poster for The Grateful Dead's "
A Swell Dance Concert" at the Nassau Coliseum on March 15 and 16, 1973. The poster was designed by artist David Byrd for Bill Graham's production company.
The concerts were intended as an "open floor dance concert" where the audience would be free to dance, similar to events held in San Francisco. This was an unusual approach for a New York venue at the time, where audiences typically preferred to sit and listen.
