Some Girls
Halfsheet, Rolling Stones, Some Girls
is a 1978 album by The Rolling Stones. The image displays a promotional poster for the album, featuring a face in a style influenced by vintage ads.
The initial die-cut album cover, created by Peter Corriston and Hubert Kretzschmar, incorporated the band members' faces alongside famous female celebrities like Lucille Ball, Farrah Fawcett, Raquel Welch, and Marilyn Monroe within an old Valmor Products Corporation advertisement. The use of celebrity likenesses without permission led to controversy and threatened legal action, resulting in a swift reissue of the album with a modified cover. The revised cover removed the celebrity faces and featured black and punk-inspired colors with the text "Pardon our appearance – cover under re-construction".
Some Girls achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success, becoming the Rolling Stones' highest-selling album in the U.S.. It was nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards and is often considered a significant album for the band.
