Misc Size, Rolling Stones, Their Satanic Majesties Request
is a 1967 studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones. It was released by Decca Records in the UK and London Records in the US. The album is known for its psychedelic sound and its unique album cover, which was a lenticular image designed by photographer Michael Cooper. The original lenticular cover created a 3D effect. The album's title is a play on the phrase "Her Britannic Majesty requests and requires..." that appears inside a British passport.
The album was released five months after the Beatles' album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and was noted for being influenced by the psychedelic genre. The cover of the Rolling Stones album reportedly contains hidden images of the faces of the four Beatles, which was a response to the Beatles including a doll wearing a "Welcome the Rolling Stones" sweater on their Sgt. Pepper cover.
The album was the band's first to be released with an identical track listing in both the UK and the US. It reached #3 on the UK charts and #2 in the US.
