Glen Ogle
One sheet
This image shows a vintage travel poster for "
Glen Ogle, Scotland by Rail." The poster is a reproduction of an original from the British Railways "See Scotland by Rail" series, believed to be from the 1950s. The artwork is attributed to Terence Cuneo (1907-1996), a prolific painter commissioned by British Railways for many railway posters.
The poster depicts a Class 5 locomotive traveling on the line between Callander and Oban, a single track that wound through the Perthshire countryside. The railway line through Glen Ogle was permanently closed in 1965 after a rockfall, and the viaducts are now part of a walking and cycling trail.
