Japanese Woodblock Print
Fine Art Print, "
Winter in Aizu" is a collection of woodblock prints by Japanese artist Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997), inspired by his birthplace in the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture. The series, which he created over 54 years, features snow-covered landscapes, traditional houses, and rural scenes, often including solitary figures.
Saito was a prominent artist in the s?saku hanga movement, which focused on self-expression and individual artistry. His work combines modernist aesthetics with traditional Japanese themes. The "Winter in Aizu" series gained international recognition after a print from the collection received an award at the São Paulo Biennale in 1951
