Plot Summary
The story is centered around Alan Quinton (Cotten), a soldier in World War II who agrees to write love letters on behalf of his friend, Roger Morland, to a woman named Victoria (Jones). Alan falls in love with Victoria through their correspondence, but she marries Roger, believing him to be the author of the letters. When Alan returns home after being wounded, he learns that Roger has died under mysterious circumstances, and Victoria, now suffering from amnesia, is a suspect in his murder.
