Fakyr
French i panel on paper, vintage French advertising poster for an aperitif called "
Le Fakyr". The poster was created by the French artist Michel Liebeaux, who was known by his pseudonym "Mich". The original posters date back to around 1920-1921.
The poster depicts a fakir (snake charmer) kneeling and serving a drink to a cartoonish snake. The text on the poster, "Le Fakyr: Charme et donne du ressort" translates to "Le Fakyr: Charms and gives you bounce/spirit". The distinctive dotted background of the poster is said to mimic the skin of a snake.
Michel Liebeaux (1881-1923) was a French poster artist and cartoonist who created advertisements for various brands, particularly in the bicycle and automobile industries.
