White Hunter Black Heart
Daybill, White Hunter, Black Heart
is a 1990 American adventure drama film starring, produced, and directed by Clint Eastwood. The film's screenplay, co-written by Peter Viertel, is based on his 1953 novel of the same name. The story is a fictionalized version of Viertel's time with director John Huston during the filming of The African Queen in Africa in 1951. Eastwood portrays John Wilson, a character based on Huston, who becomes fixated on hunting an elephant while in Africa to direct a film. This obsession creates conflict with his film crew, including screenwriter Pete Verrill, played by Jeff Fahey, a character inspired by Viertel. The movie premiered in the United States on September 14, 1990.
