New York Worlds Fair
Halfsheet, 1939 New York World's Fair, which had the theme "Building the World of Tomorrow". The fair was held in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park in Queens, New York, and its official colors were blue and orange. The fair's central symbols, the 610-foot-tall Trylon and the 180-foot-wide Perisphere, are featured prominently in the poster.
The fair's original theme, "The World of Tomorrow," was a hopeful vision of a bright future after the Great Depression. This vision was influenced by the rise of the American middle class and new technological advancements. The fair featured exhibits that showcased new technologies like television, air conditioning, and nylon. As global tensions rose and World War II began, the fair's theme in its second season was changed to "For Peace and Freedom".
