The Doors LA Woman
Halfsheet, Music, The image is a promotional poster for The Doors' album
L.A. Woman. The poster depicts a woman crucified on a telephone pole, which is a visual metaphor for the cultural exploitation of women. This image was also featured on the yellow inner sleeve of the original vinyl LP release of the album.
L.A. Woman was the sixth and final studio album released by the band with Jim Morrison during his lifetime. The album was released on April 19, 1971, and is known for its blues rock and psychedelic rock sound. The album was recorded in The Doors' Workshop in Los Angeles after the band's producer, Paul A. Rothchild, quit due to a disagreement over the quality of their studio performances. The album was then co-produced by the band and their longtime sound engineer, Bruce Botnick.
The album contains several popular songs, including "Love Her Madly," "Riders on the Storm," and the title track, "L.A. Woman". It has been ranked as one of the best albums by The Doors by critics.
