is a 1953 Technicolor musical film with songs by Irving Berlin, based on the 1950 stage musical of the same name. The story is a satire on politics and foreign policy, centering on Sally Adams, a wealthy socialite appointed as the U.S. Ambassador to the fictional European country of Lichtenburg.
The movie stars Ethel Merman in her Tony Award-winning role as Sally Adams, with Donald O'Connor and Vera-Ellen as a younger couple in a secondary romance. Merman won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her performance.
