Adventures of Captain Marvel. It is considered the first theatrical film adaptation of a comic book superhero.
About the Serial

Plot: The 12-chapter black-and-white serial follows young radio operator Billy Batson, who is given the power to transform into the superhero Captain Marvel by the wizard Shazam. Captain Marvel must stop a masked criminal known as the "Scorpion" from collecting a series of lenses that, when combined, can form a powerful and destructive ray.
Cast: Tom Tyler stars as Captain Marvel, and Frank Coghlan, Jr. plays his alter ego, Billy Batson.
Release: The serial was produced by Republic Pictures and officially released on March 28, 1941. It was later re-released in 1953 as Return of Captain Marvel and again in 1966 as a complete feature film.
Special Effects: The serial is known for its groundbreaking special effects, particularly the flying sequences, which were achieved using a large paper mâché dummy and a system of wires. Stuntman David Sharpe performed the live-action take-off and landing sequences.
