Exigez Un Peureux
French 2 panel advertising poster from around 1925 for a liqueur called "Un Peureux," produced by the Peureux Fils distillery. The artwork was created by the French artist Henry Le Monnier.
Poster Description:
The poster features a dynamic, whimsical design characteristic of the Art Deco era. A smiling man in a vibrant lime-green uniform and a matching hat is depicted joyfully tearing through a red background, as if bursting onto the scene. In his hand, he holds up a bottle of the advertised "Un Peureux" spirit. The bold text at the bottom reads "EXIGEZ UN PEUREUX" (Demand Un Peureux).
Product Information:
"Un Peureux" was a Swiss/French anise-flavored liqueur or pastis. The Peureux Fils company, founded in 1864 in Fougerolles, specialized in fruit brandies and high-quality spirits.
