Cunard
One sheet stone litho Cunard Line travel poster is a vintage advertisement likely from the late 1920s or early 1930s, promoting an assisted passage scheme for British emigrants to Canada. The fare of £10 was offered to British emigrants "irrespective of occupation".
The poster is associated with the Empire Settlement Act of 1922, a collaborative effort between the British and Canadian governments to facilitate and encourage migration from the UK to Canada and other parts of the British Empire after World War I. This act led to programs offering reduced fares and other assistance to emigrants. The far more well-known "Ten Pound Poms" scheme was a similar, post-WWII program that specifically assisted British citizens migrating to Australia and New Zealand, beginning in 1945.
