Film Details

Purpose The film was created by Keren HaYesod (the fundraising arm of the Zionist movement) to encourage Jewish settlement and investment in Palestine (Eretz Israel).
Content It is a part-documentary, part-travelogue that emphasizes the secular accomplishments of Zionist settlers and portrays Palestine as a land of opportunity. The film used no professional actors and documented the daily lives of European Jewish immigrants from 1933.
Recognition The Land of Promise won first prize for documentary films at the Venice International Film Festival in August 1935.
