The film follows the heartwarming adventure of an elderly widower and retired balloon salesman named Carl Fredricksen. To fulfill a lifelong dream he shared with his late wife, Ellie, Carl ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the South American wilderness. He inadvertently takes along a young, optimistic Wilderness Explorer named Russell as a stowaway.
