Synopsis
A wealthy industrialist looking to build a luxury resort hires a famous hoax-buster and television personality, Phillip Knight (Boris Karloff), to investigate an island in the South Pacific rumored to be under a voodoo curse. An earlier expedition resulted in only one survivor returning in a catatonic, zombie-like state.
Knight, a determined skeptic, leads a new team to the island. They soon encounter a series of bizarre occurrences that challenge his rational explanations, including:
Strange voodoo rituals and a tribe with mysterious powers.
"Man-eating cobra plants" that attack women.
The mysterious death of the sole survivor of the previous expedition.
The film builds tension as Knight and his team are trapped on the island, forcing the debunker to confront the reality of the supernatural forces at work. The movie is notable for featuring an early, uncredited film role for Adam West.
