Venue & Date: The concerts took place at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA, on Friday, August 26, and Saturday, August 27, 1966.
Series Number: It is number BG-25 in the official Bill Graham poster series.
Historical Context: Grace Slick was the lead singer of the Great Society at the time, just months before joining Jefferson Airplane and achieving massive fame. The 13th Floor Elevators, a pioneering acid rock band from Texas, were a significant influence on the San Francisco music scene. They only played the first night, as they lacked the proper union permits for the second show, and were replaced by Country Joe and the Fish.
