Andy Warhol Fine Art Campbell Soup Can, Campbell's Soup II: Vegetarian Vegetable
is a screenprint by Andy Warhol from his 1969 portfolio, Campbell's Soup Cans II. The portfolio consists of ten screenprints, each depicting a different flavor of Campbell's soup with an added graphic element. In this print, the label reads "THE ALPHABET SOUP" inside a yellow speech bubble, which replaces the usual golden seal found on Campbell's soup cans.
Warhol's Campbell's Soup can artworks are considered a landmark of the Pop Art movement. He was fascinated with consumer culture and mass production, and his work challenged the traditional idea of what could be considered art by elevating everyday, mass-produced objects into fine art. Warhol's decision to use a silkscreen printing technique for the "Campbell's Soup II" series allowed him to create detailed and consistent images, mimicking the industrial production of the actual soup cans.
The artwork shown is part of a limited edition of 250, and is hand-signed and numbered by Warhol on the reverse. The price of this artwork can vary, with some pieces from the portfolio selling for tens of thousands of dollars.
