Synopsis
The story follows Jack Kelly (William Haines), an impoverished shipping clerk and natural golf prodigy, who is offered a two-week membership at an exclusive country club by his golf-obsessed boss. At the club, Jack meets the beautiful heiress Allie Monte (Joan Crawford) and attempts to win her heart by posing as a wealthy man.
The plot thickens when Allie's family supposedly loses all their money, and she decides she must marry for wealth. Jack eventually has an emotional change of heart, confesses the truth of his poverty, and wins back Allie (who secretly had her fortune all along and was testing him) after securing a large cash prize in a golf tournament.
