Taormina
Antikbar Attraction size, ENIT Italian, coastal scene, vintage travel poster for
Taormina, Italy, created in the 1920s, is an original work by the Italian artist Mario Borgoni. It was issued by the Italian Government Tourist Board (ENIT) and printed by Richter & C. of Napoli.
The artwork is a classic example of the Art Deco style, featuring a picturesque view of the ancient Greco-Roman theatre ruins in the foreground, with the deep blue Ionian Sea and the snow-capped Mount Etna volcano in the background.

The artist who created the "Taormina" travel poster is the Italian painter and illustrator
Mario Borgoni.
Mario Borgoni (1869-1936) studied at the Fine Arts Institute in Naples, where he later taught decorative arts. In the early 20th century, he began a freelance collaboration with Richter & Co., a major manufacturer of posters in Naples, eventually becoming their artistic director around 1906.
He is most noted for his work on vintage travel posters for the Italian Government Tourist Board (ENIT), which typically featured a blend of the Art Deco and Italian Liberty (Art Nouveau) styles. His vibrant and picturesque designs of Italian destinations like Capri, Amalfi, and Taormina became a trademark of the printing house and are highly admired today.
