Riviera Expresses
One sheet vintage travel poster, titled
Riviera Expresses, was produced for the Southern Railway in 1928 to promote its rail services to the French Riviera.
The artwork is by the British artist F. Whatley. It promotes the route from London (Victoria Station) via Dieppe, Calais (connecting with the "Blue Train"), and Boulogne, encouraging travelers to visit the south of France, which was advertised as "inexpensive, amusing, and gloriously warm".
It is a notable example of vintage railway publicity from the Art Deco era, designed to capture the allure of the Côte d'Azur for holidaymakers.
