The Rolling Stones Some Girls
One sheet
promotional poster for The Rolling Stones' 1978 album Some Girls. This specific design is a rare first version of the album cover that was quickly withdrawn due to controversy.
The Album

Some Girls is the 14th British and 16th American studio album by The Rolling Stones, released on June 9, 1978.
It was a major critical and commercial success, topping the US charts and becoming the band's top-selling album in the US.
The album featured hit singles such as "Miss You", "Beast of Burden", "Respectable", and "Shattered".

The Controversial Artwork

The cover was designed by Peter Corriston and featured an elaborate die-cut design based on an old Valmor Products Corporation advertisement.
The inner sleeve, visible through the die-cut holes, displayed the faces of the band members in drag alongside images of female celebrities without their permission.
Following threats of legal action from celebrities and their estates, including those of Lucille Ball, Farrah Fawcett, Liza Minnelli (representing her mother Judy Garland), Raquel Welch, and Marilyn Monroe, the cover was promptly redesigned.
Subsequent versions of the cover replaced the celebrity faces with a plain colored inner sleeve, sometimes featuring the phrase "Pardon our appearance – cover under re-construction".
