Event: Commemorative festivities for the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy and an accompanying International Exhibition of Arts and Ethnography.

Key Imagery: The poster dramatically depicts a flock of eagles, which represent the ancient Roman Republic, perched atop an ancient Roman pillar marked with the initials "SPQR" (Senatus Populus Que Romanus, meaning "The Roman Senate and People").

The 1911 celebrations were major national events, with related exhibitions also held in Turin and Florence. The Rome exhibition included several components: an international fine arts exhibition, an international architecture competition, an ethnographic exhibition with regional pavilions, and various congresses and popular festivals. The exhibition also marked the inauguration of several new monuments in Rome, including the Victor Emmanuel II Monument (Vittoriano).
