Claude Alexander Conlin (1880–1954), a famous American vaudeville magician and mentalist who performed under the stage name "Alexander, The Man Who Knows".
Alexander, The Man Who Knows

Real Name: Born Claude Alexander Conlin in Alexandria, South Dakota.
Persona: He specialized in mentalism and psychic readings, often appearing on stage in elaborate "Oriental style robes and a feathered turban".
Performance Style: Alexander would answer sealed questions from audience members after gazing into a crystal ball. He used early electrical technology, like concealed earpieces hidden under his large turban, to receive information gathered by his assistants in the audience.
Success and Wealth: He was one of the highest-paid entertainers of the 1910s and 1920s, reportedly earning millions of dollars during his career.
Notoriety: Offstage, his life was colorful and included multiple marriages (at least seven, possibly more), run-ins with the law related to bootlegging, and tax evasion charges which he settled by paying a large fine in cash.
Legacy: He invested heavily in creating visually stunning chromolithograph posters, like the one pictured, which became highly collectible after his retirement in 1927.
