"Sweden - Dalarna land of folklore". The artwork within the poster is a reproduction of a traditional Swedish peasant wall painting, known as a bonadsmålning or Dalmålning.
Artwork Details

Subject: The central image depicts the biblical story of the Ascension of the Prophet Elijah (Elie himmelsfärd in Swedish). Elijah is shown being taken to heaven in a fiery horse-drawn chariot, while his successor Elisha (Elifa) looks on from below.
Style: The painting is an example of kurbits folk art, a distinctive decorative painting style originating from the Dalarna region of Sweden. The text at the top, written in old Swedish, roughly translates to: "Elias went to Simla with a burning wagon and Elifa saw this happen and cried, My father, my father".
Original Location: The original wall painting dates back to around 1840 and is housed at the Nordiska Muséet (Nordic Museum) in Stockholm, Sweden.
Poster Information: The travel poster itself was published by the Swedish Tourist Traffic Association (STTA) and printed by Esselte in the late 1950s or early 1960s (circa 1959-1962) to promote tourism to the Dalarna region.
