The Film and Participants

Huey P. Newton: The co-founder, chief theoretician, and chairman of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. The film features an interview with Newton during his incarceration, where he discusses the Black Panther Party's 10-Point Program and revolutionary politics.
Watts Writers Workshop: This was a creative writing group established in the wake of the 1965 Watts Uprising in Los Angeles by screenwriter Budd Schulberg. It provided a vital space for Black artists and writers to express themselves and played a significant role in the Black Arts Movement on the West Coast, often collaborating with political groups like the Black Panthers.
