Synopsis Butch Cassidy (Paul Newman) is the brains and the Sundance Kid (Robert Redford) is the sharp-shooting brawn of the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang. As the American West becomes more civilized and a relentless posse pursues them, the pair, along with Sundance's girlfriend Etta Place (Katharine Ross), flee to Bolivia to continue their life of crime, where they eventually meet a tragic end.
Awards The movie was a critical and commercial success, winning four Academy Awards, including Best Original Screenplay for William Goldman and Best Original Score and Song ("Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head") for Burt Bacharach.
