As the American West becomes more civilized and a relentless posse pursues them, the pair, along with Sundance's girlfriend Etta Place (Katharine Ross), flee to Bolivia to continue their life of crime, where they eventually meet a tragic end.
Awards The movie was a critical and commercial success, winning four Academy Awards, including Best Original Screenplay for William Goldman and Best Original Score and Song ("Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head") for Burt Bacharach.
Significance It is highly regarded as one of the greatest Westerns of all time and is noted for its witty dialogue, the excellent chemistry between the lead actors, and a unique blend of humor, adventure, and drama.
