Rage at Dawn
Half sheet movie poster for the 1955 Technicolor Western film
"Rage at Dawn", starring Randolph Scott, Forrest Tucker, Mala Powers, and J. Carrol Naish.
Movie Summary
The film purports to tell the true story of the notorious Reno Brothers gang, who were the first train robbers in American history and terrorized Southern Indiana after the Civil War in 1866.

Plot: A private detective named James Barlow (Randolph Scott), an ex-Confederate agent, is sent to infiltrate the gang, which has corrupted local officials, including a judge and sheriff. Posing as an outlaw, Barlow stages a fake train robbery to gain the gang's confidence. His mission becomes complicated when he falls in love with the outlaws' sister, Laura (Mala Powers).
Historical Accuracy: While loosely based on the real Reno Brothers, the movie takes many fictional liberties. The ending is notably dark but historically accurate, as the real Frank, Sim, and Bill Reno were eventually captured, only to be lynched by a vigilante mob in 1868 before they could stand trial in federal court.
