Plot Summary
The story is a romantic epic set in early 20th-century colonial Kenya. It follows Karen Blixen, a Danish baroness who moves to Africa with her husband of convenience, Bror Blixen, to start a coffee plantation. After their marriage fails due to Bror's infidelity, Karen develops a passionate, yet complicated, love affair with a free-spirited big-game hunter named Denys Finch Hatton. The film chronicles her deep connection to the land and its people, as well as themes of love, loss, and personal independence, culminating in tragedy when Denys dies in a plane crash. Karen eventually leaves Africa and returns to Denmark, where she becomes a renowned author, writing about her experiences.
