Zakopane II 1962 #2
One sheet vintage poster was created by the renowned Polish graphic designers
Henryk Tomaszewski (1914–2005) and Wojciech Fangor (1922–2015).
The artwork was designed to promote the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships held in Zakopane, Poland, from February 18 to 25, 1962.
Artistic and Historical Significance

Polish School of Posters: Both Tomaszewski and Fangor were leading figures of the "Polish School of Posters," known for using painterly gestures and metaphors rather than direct realism.
Design: The poster features a dynamic, abstract white shape representing a skier in motion against a deep blue background, surrounded by various national flags of the competing countries.
Logos: The bottom right corner displays the official logos of the International Ski Federation (FIS) and the Polish Ski Association (PZN), which was founded in 1919.

Key Events of the 1962 Championships

Milestones: This event marked the debut of the women's 5 km cross-country race and the individual normal hill ski jumping event.
Ski Jumping: For the first time in championship history, two individual ski jumping events were held—one on a "Normal Hill" (K-65) and one on a "Large Hill" (K-90).
Winners: The Soviet Union finished first in the overall medal standings, followed by Sweden and Norway.
