Gripsholm Castle is located on the shores of Lake Mälaren, approximately 60 km west of Stockholm. It is famous for its distinctive circular corner towers and its red brick architecture. Originally a royal residence for the Swedish royal family until the 18th century, it now serves as a museum and houses the Swedish State Portrait Collection
