Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
Small poster
uncropped and un-retouched dye transfer lithograph of the iconic cover art for The Beatles' eighth studio album, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".
The Historical Moment
The original photograph was taken on March 30, 1967, at Michael Cooper’s Chelsea Manor Studios in London. The uncropped version reveals the studio lights and the edges of the elaborate set, providing a behind-the-scenes look at one of music history's most famous shoots.
The Cover Design
The collage was designed by English Pop artists Peter Blake and his wife Jann Haworth, under the art direction of Robert Fraser. It features:

The Beatles: Appearing twice—once as their current 1967 selves in bright "Sgt. Pepper" uniforms and again as wax figures from their earlier "mop-top" era.
Crowd of Icons: A star-studded assembly of life-sized cardboard cutouts and wax figures representing historical and cultural figures.
Excluded Figures: Some planned figures, such as Adolf Hitler and Jesus, were ultimately ruled out or removed before the final release. One figure, Leo Gorcey, was removed after his agent requested a payment of $400 for the use of his likeness.

Legacy
Released on June 1, 1967, the album is widely considered one of the most influential of all time. The cover art itself won a Grammy Award and remains a revolutionary example of pop art and album design.
