Star Wars Galaxy
one sheet
"Battle of Yavin" poster, painted by the renowned science fiction artist John Berkey in 1976. It famously served as a promotional insert included with the original 1977 Star Wars double vinyl soundtrack album released by 20th Century Records.
Art and Significance

The Artist: John Berkey's impressionistic style was highly influential to George Lucas during the development of Star Wars.
The Scene: The painting depicts a dynamic dogfight between Rebel starfighters (X-wings and Y-wings) and Imperial TIE fighters near the Death Star.
Historical Context: This was one of the few pieces of Berkey's Star Wars art seen by the public at the time of the original film's release, along with his cover for the film's novelization. Interestingly, the poster features more ships than were actually shown in the film's final battle sequence.
