Capri
One sheet vintage Italian travel poster for Capri, originally designed by artist Mario Puppo for the Ente Provinciale per il Turismo - Napoli (Provincial Tourism Agency of Naples).
The poster features a bold, geometric depiction of Capri's famous coastal landscapes, specifically evoking the island's natural stone arches and vibrant flora like bougainvillea and prickly pear cacti.

This iconic travel poster was created by the Italian graphic designer and painter
Mario Puppo (1905–1977).
Originally issued in 1952 by the Italian Tourist Board (ENIT), the artwork was part of a campaign branding Capri as "l'isola del Sole" (The Island of the Sun). Puppo is renowned for his mid-century tourism posters, which often featured bold geometric shapes and vibrant, optimistic palettes to advertise Italian seaside and mountain resorts.
About the Artist

Background: Born in Levanto, Italy, Puppo began producing advertising leaflets for luxury hotels and tourist offices in the 1930s.
Style: His work is characterized by "dynamism of volumes" and a focus on the beauty of the landscape rather than typical propaganda rhetoric.
Notable Works: Beyond Capri, he designed posters for locations like Sicily, Naples, and the Dolomites, as well as theatrical playbills for performances in Pompeii and Ostia.
