Plot Summary
Frustrated with the wars and violence of his own time, an inventor named George constructs a machine to travel forward through time. After stops in 1917, 1940, and a fictional nuclear war in 1966, he arrives in the year 802,701 A.D..
In this far future, he finds humanity has evolved into two distinct species:

The Eloi: Peaceful, childlike surface dwellers who lead a seemingly idyllic but passive existence.
The Morlocks: Brutish, subterranean monsters who maintain the world's machinery but also harvest and feed on the Eloi.

George eventually helps the Eloi fight back against the Morlocks before returning briefly to his own time, only to vanish once more into the future.
