Plot Summary
In London, a sinister insurance agent and former physician, Dr. Feodor Orloff (Lugosi), runs a deadly scam. He targets lonely men by offering them loans, convincing them to name him as the beneficiary on their life insurance policies.
Orloff uses the Dearborn Home for the Blind as a front for his crimes. With the help of his deformed, blind henchman, Jake (Wilfred Walter), he murders the policyholders—often by drowning—and dumps their bodies into the River Thames. To further his scheme, Orloff leads a double life, periodically disguising himself as the kindly, blind manager of the home, Professor Dearborn.
The mystery unravels when Scotland Yard Detective Larry Holt (Hugh Williams) and Diana Stuart (Greta Gynt), the daughter of one of the victims, team up to expose the grisly connection between the drownings and the home for the blind
