The Foxes of Harrow

Stahl, the film is an adaptation of the best-selling 1946 debut novel by Frank Yerby, who was notably the first African American author to have a book optioned for a Hollywood screen adaptation.
Film Overview
The story follows Stephen Fox (played by Rex Harrison), a roguish Irish gambler who arrives in New Orleans in the 1820s. Despite his illegitimate birth, he uses his gambling skills to win a plantation in a lucky card game and amasses a massive fortune, eventually building the grand estate known as "Harrow". The narrative centers on his tumultuous marriage to the beautiful but stubborn aristocratic Creole, Odalie "Lilli" D'Arceneaux (Maureen O'Hara), and the various personal and societal conflicts that arise in the pre-Civil War South.
