Exposition Vallauris 1961
Fine Art by Picasso is an original linocut print created in 1961 for an exhibition in Vallauris, France. The print was created on Arches paper and signed and numbered in pencil by the artist. It was printed by Hidalgo Arnéra, a printer Picasso worked with to produce posters for ceramic exhibitions and bullfights.
The town of Vallauris is famous for its pottery, and Picasso lived there from 1948 to 1955, where he was heavily involved in the creation of the town's pottery industry. The artwork itself is a characteristic example of Picasso's style, featuring intertwined composition and typography. The image depicts a figure, a sun, and the year "1961" at the bottom center.
